Your local roller girls are flipping flapjacks in honor or St. Patty’s Day to support their 2009 season.

Roll out of bead early on Saturday March 14^th and the Hudson Valley Horrors will be serving all you can eat pancakes, sausage, eggs, orange juice, coffee, tea and traditional St Patty’s green beer. Hosted at The Dubliner Irish Pub, 796 Main St. Poughkeepsie, NY, (845) 454-7322. Admission is only $6 for adults and kids under 6 are free, serving from 8am until noon.

Come out and support your local roller girls, all proceeds go toward their 2009 Season.

CALLING ALL FIERY FEMALES FOR 2009 SEASON ROLLER DERBY TRY OUTS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CALLING ALL FIERY FEMALES FOR 2009 SEASON ROLLER DERBY TRY OUTS.
If you are female, 18+, have an interest in roller derby and spark in your personality, then this is your chance to become a roller girl for the upcoming 2009 season.

Try-outs will be held on Monday February 9th and Thursday February 12th, 7:30pm, at our home rink, Hyde Park Roller Magic (Rt. 9 - 4178 Albany Post Rd, Hyde Park, NY). Skate rental and padding will be available; please bring your own gear (skates, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, helmet) if you have it. Skating experience is helpful but not necessary. Just bring attitude, and we'll train you to play. The Horrors are seeking referees, cheerleaders and volunteers, too (male or female, 18+).

As the newest All-American Xtreme team sport, roller derby offers an exciting workout, a getaway from the daily grind, a productive outlet for aggression/stress, a great way to meet interesting people or boosting self esteem. Team play, athleticism, endurance and sports womanship are elements that are important in flat track roller derby.

For the first time, the Horrors are opening this round of try outs to the press. This is the best opportunity to find out how roller girls are made. To ensure that the try out attendees will be comfortable, photographs will be restricted to veteran skaters.
